Unleash the power of putting patients first
As a physician-led organization, we take an insider’s perspective on creating solutions for organizations looking to bring healthcare into the direct to consumer market, skipping the opacity and headaches associated with intermediaries and insurers.
Who We Are
Meet our CEO and Founder, Allison Edwards
Dr. Allison Edwards aims to change the manner in which healthcare is delivered, putting the emphasis on keeping people well rather than solely stepping in and treating the sick. Originally from Lawrence, Kansas, Dr. Edwards spent her undergraduate years at Drake University in Des Moines before returning to the Kansas City are for medical school at the University of Kansas. From there, she completed her residency and served as Chief Resident at the University of Colorado in Denver.
Her time working for a large healthcare organization — where the patient never seemed to be the focus of the care provided — solidified her desire to take a different approach to healthcare. She founded Kansas City Direct Primary Care in 2016 and through an amazing coalition of like-minded physicians founded the Direct Primary Care Alliance, the trade organization supporting the burgeoning DPC movement.
This unique perspective — a physician running a successful practice outside the bounds of insurance — allowed her to lend her expertise as a consultant to many other practices and businesses.
Rounding out her clinical practice, she provides coverage for rural hospitals and ERs across the Midwest as a board-certified family physician. She also serves as a Volunteer Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Kansas and a Volunteer Clinical Instructor for the University of Colorado, allowing her to continue to educate the next generation of healers. She also writes for the American Academy of Family Physicians, and is a nationally featured speaker on the subject of healthcare reform.
In her free time, she loves spending time with her young family and pursuing hobbies including travel, gardening, cooking, being outdoors (backcountry camping, biking, and skiing are top choices), and enjoying a cup of coffee — ideally uninterrupted by kids while reading the newspaper on her bright yellow porch swing.
